David Gurzhiev is a first-generation Ukrainian American photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. Gurzhiev's work explores his upbringing as the child of Soviet immigrants, navigating the complexities of family, memory, and belonging. His photographs—whether of his grandparents in their apartment, landscapes of the places that shaped him, or quiet domestic moments—are made with patience and care. They seek to preserve what feels fleeting, to hold onto life even as it slips away, and to understand how personal history shapes who we become.

He is based in Los Angeles and New York City.
